What we’re doing

As restrictions lift, we’ll be socialising and relaxing more than ever in our gardens, parks and countryside. Too often the salad gets forgotten or wasted on these occasions, with the burgers and other finger foods taking centre stage. We also know that vegetable consumption tends to decrease in the summer months.

To help keep us munching on veg and to reduce our food waste over the summer, let’s turn the spotlight onto salads and get creative in the kitchen. We bring you the #SaladSticks campaign.

Salad sticks are quick to prepare, convenient to eat, fun, accessible and affordable, appealing to adults and children alike.

How you can get involved

We want to create a collection of #SaladSticks and are asking our network of supporters to develop their own ‘My Favourite Salad Stick’. Dressings and dips to accompany the #SaladSticks are also most welcome.

These will be shared on social media, uploaded onto our Pinterest ‘Salad Bar’ board and the best ones will be included within an eBook that will be available to download from our website.

To enter, please send the following to hello@vegpower.org.uk

  • a high res photo of your #SaladSticks
  • your name and the name of your creation
  • list of ingredients (anything goes in addition to the salad of course!)
  • any instructions to help prepare the stick, dressing or dip

As the campaign will be launching w/c 19th July, please do start sharing ideas with us as soon as they are ready! We look forward to your entries.

N.B. These are just some ideas, we’d love to see your creations!
