Feel the Fibre 2026
Our next Bang in Some Beans campaign leverages the fibre trend to increase bean and pulses consumption. It brings together a coalition of media partners and social influencers with a primary and special school programme, a national community project as well support from our corporate Keen Bean pledgers.
Together we’ll get the message of inspiration and education to millions.

Primary & special schools
With the new school food standards coming your school catering teams will be introducing more fibre, beans, and pulses to the menu.
We know that changing school menus can sometimes face resistance from children, and their parents and carers. That’s why Veg Power is launching a brand-new, nationwide campaign this autumn to get children and families excited about healthy eating, making the menu transition seamless for your school.
What are we asking schools to do?
This is a caterer led programme in schools, but your support will greatly increase the impact. It has been designed to be flexible to suit individual schools. At the lightest end, you simply need a little coordination with your caterers and to send information out to your parents & carers. As you wish, you can engage more with an assembly, lesson plans and other activities which will be fun and rewarding for children and teachers, as well as supporting essential curriculum objectives around health, diet, food provenance and sustainability.
Free resources:
Curriculum-supporting lesson plans, an engaging assembly, fun activities, and easy-to-use toolkits designed to require minimal teacher preparation.
Improved concentration:
High-fibre meals slow down digestion, helping to prevent classroom hunger crashes and maintain focus throughout the afternoon.
National campaign backing:
Celebrities, experts, and major media partners will be bringing the “bean and fibre” message into millions of homes, priming your pupils and parents to embrace the new menu changes.
Cost-of-living support:
The programme actively guides parents on how to use affordable beans, pulses and veg to save money on their weekly grocery shop.
The Goal: We create the buzz at home, you engage children in the classroom, your caterers serve the food, and your pupils reap the benefits of a healthier gut and better concentration in class.

School caterers
Our objective is to support the uptake and consumption of blended dishes containing beans & pulses in primary and special schools. Moving beans & pulses from hidden to “discovered”, accepted and never needing to hide again. This will create a foundation step towards more ambitious bean & pulse inclusion in future menus and greater uptake of vegetarian dishes.
This is a caterer led initiative in schools with huge support in the media and social media outside of schools, strong resources for parents and families to extend the programme into the home and flexible resources for schools to support you as little or as much as they wish.

Calling all parents
Did you know that most of our kids aren’t eating enough fibre!. It helps keep blood sugar steady, meaning fewer energy crashes and better focus in class. Our new programme in schools will help your child to learn about and enjoy more fibre from beans, vegetables and fruit. Improve their digestion and focus, and help you to serve the same at home.
Please send your primary or special school head, or perhaps your governors or PTA the flyer you can download below so you schools can join this programme. It is 100% free.

Social media
We’ve been busy co-creating content with our influencer ambassadors covering why fibre is important, how fibre works in the gut, why beans, veg and fruit are an excellent source of fibre, how to add more beans & veg to your family favourite dishes as well as some exciting new recipes. Together our social media ambassadors will take the fibre and beans message to several million people.
We’ve also been joined by former students of the legendary Leith’s cookery school showing off their bean recipe on their channels.
However big your audience is, you can help. Help us fill the algorithm with more beans and more fibre. Download the social media toolkit below.
