Fibre Campaign – Autumn 2026

Our next Bang in Some Beans campaign leverages the fibre trend to increase bean and pulses consumption at school and at home. This will bring together a large primary school programme with collaboration between schools and caterers and supported by a significant social media campaign and media partnerships which will reach well beyond schools.

We are currently filming social media content with our ambassadors and with Good Food joining as our media partner this campaign will reach millions of people in the UK. We will be asking all our friends and supporters to join in, please make sure you are registered for updates.

Free programme for schools

With the new school food standards coming into force this September, your school catering teams will be introducing more fibre, beans, and pulses to the menu.

We know that changing school menus can sometimes face resistance from children, and their parents and carers. That’s why Veg Power is launching a brand-new, nationwide campaign this autumn to get children and families excited about healthy eating, making the menu transition seamless for your school.

What’s in it for your school?

The Goal: We create the buzz at home, you engage children in the classroom, your caterers serve the food, and your pupils reap the benefits of a healthier gut and better concentration in class.

Get involved this autumn

This programme is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and is 100% free for schools.

About the Beans project

Thanks to National Lottery players, The Food Foundation, alongside Veg Power and Kent University Students’ Union, will encourage people across the UK to eat sustainable food sources such as beans, lentils and pulses, as a way of helping them take achievable and affordable climate action.

The beans project has received almost £1.4m from The National Lottery Community Fund, the UK’s largest funder of community activity, and aims to reduce the impact of diets on greenhouse gas emissions, whilst creating a long-term shift towards healthier and more sustainable dietary habits. With the support of local and national food businesses, activities will include a digital campaign to engage the public.

This grant comes from the Climate Action Fund, a £100 million commitment over 10 years from The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change and involve more people in climate action. This forms part of one of the funder’s four key missions in its 2030 strategy, ‘It starts with community’ – supporting communities to be environmentally sustainable.
